HIMCR #143 - Freestyle

Hi, all mu crafty friends and family!!!

Do you know what day it is?

Well, it's Saturday and you know what that means . . . it means it's time for another new challenge at Hiding In My Craft Room.  And with it being the last Saturday of the month, it is "Freestyle".  This week our sponsor is The Paper Temptress and the prize is a gift certificate to The Paper Temptress.  How exciting is that?!?!

For this challenge, I decided to do a simple card.  Okay, I will be honest here . . . I actually did a different card, but forgot about using it for today and already posted it. lol  Maybe it's my old age? Or maybe it is just because I was so tired from a GREAT weekend retreat?  :)  So anyway, I did do another card using some scraps I had from The Paper Temptress . . . and a saying that I keep telling my daughter "You are special".   Here's how it turned out:

Paper from The Paper Temptress:

If you want more information on any of the papers I used from The Paper Temptress, please click on it's name above to go directly to that paper.  Otherwise, just click on The Paper Temptress to go to her home paper to see all her papers . . . Patricia really does has some AMAZING papers!

Remember, you have one week to get your project in at HIMCR to be eligible for the gift certificate to The Paper Temptress.  I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Till the next time I'm up in the night.  Kathy

Get Inky! - "Circles"

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Right now the challenge over at Get Inky! challenge (aka Blue Moon /Creations Crafting Station) is "circles or circle punches".  Well, after making my "Thank You" card the other day, I decided to use the same background pattern but also use circle punches . . . kinda make like a color block type pattern.  I also used Get Inky!'s new stamp set "Circles of Love" for the faux stitching on the circles and the "Thank You" sentiment from "Sew Sweet Cupcake" stamp set (also from Get Inky!).  Here's how it turned out:

Supplies:
black Momento ink
Helmar Scrap Dots 3D adhesive

Papers from The Paper Temptress:

All the paper I used for this card is from The Paper Temptress . . . if you would like to get more information on each paper, just click on the paper's name above.

For this card, I punched out the circles with a 1" and a 1-3/8" circle punches. I stamped them with the faux stitching circle stamps before cutting them in half and in quarters.  After deciding where to place everything, I trimmed just a little of the two (2) quarter circles of the large circle (the one that has red, white & yellow pieces) because otherwise it wouldn't have "fit" . . . the 1/2 piece would have been a bit smaller due to the little space between the two (2) quarter pieces.

All-in-all this card was so much FUN to make . . . a bit challenging, but FUN!  It as a bit challenging only because you do need a steady hand when adhering the circle pieces along the edges. :)

Remember, you have till Wednesday to get your projects in over at Get Inky! challenge to be eligible for the Super Inky! prize.  I can't wait to see what you come up with. :)

Till the the next time I'm up in the night.  Kathy

A quick Thanks . . .

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

I just got back from the most wonderful scrapbooking retreat where I got to see some "old" friends and make a few new ones.  I went to a place called Memories on Marshal . . . and let me tell you, it is the most AMAZING place to go.  It is in a couple's home and they treat you just like family, but also pamper you.

So I want to share a card I just did for the wonderful couple from Memories on Marshall in St. Louis.  Sheryl and Carl are the BEST . . . and after spending a GREAT weekend with them at their home for the 3rd time, I wanted to send them a simple "Thank You" card.  And knowing they are Iowa Cyclone fans (same as me), I decided to use the colors gold/yellow and red with accenting black.  All the paper I used is from The Paper Temptress . . . Patricia has the most AMAZING papers.  I LOVE to use them all by themselves because they really don't need anything else to make them look GREAT.

Anyway, here's how my card turned out:

Papers used from The Paper Temptress:

The mica/metaillic papers have a shimmer, almost glittery without the glitter, to it. The Yellow Ruche has aTcrepe paper texture but much stronger like 80# cardstock.  And you can see from the picture the texture of the Vintage Silver Lustre.  If you want more information on any of the papers I used, just click on the name . . . I have them linked directly to their page at The Paper Temptress.

I really hope Sheryl and Carl like this card of Thanks. :)

Till the next time I'm up in the night.  Kathy

HIMCR #142-Use Digital

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Do you know what today is?  Well, it is actually Thursday evening for me because since I am going away for the weekend for a scrapbooking retreat with some of my online peeps and one my best friends from here, I am writing my post a couple days early.  I've been to my LSS to get a few items I was out of, got my hair cut (almost 6" cut off) and also had it highlighted . . . I also broke down and bought some new clothes.  For those who know me really well, know I had been trying to gain 30 pounds for over 5 years.  Well, I am finally close to my goal . . . just 6 or so pounds from where the doctor wants me to be, but right where I want to be.  So I bought two new outfits . .  and what a better time to where them than when going away for the weekend?!?!

Anyway, it is time once again (Saturday) over at Hiding In My Craft Room for our Saturday challenge . . . and this week is use any digi image.  Our sponsor is:

The giveaway is a $12 gift certificate to Sami Stamps

For this challenge, I chose the cutest digi image called "Little One" by Sami Stamps.  It reminded me of something sweet and innocent, so I used Authentique's Grace 6x6 paper collection along with more pastel- colored Copics.  Here's how it turned out:

Since I wanted to keep the focus on the image, I chose to do a CAS type layout for my card with a little bling.  All-in-all I am really happy with it . . . I hope you are, too.

Remember, you have one week to get your projects in . . . I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Till the next time I'm up in the night.  Kathy

Clear It Out Challenge - Food

Does anyone know what time it is?

That's right . . .

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!  Once again, it's challenge time over at Clear It Out Challenge.  Time to clear away your crafty space and get your crafty on.  And usual, our fearless leader, Laura,  has come up with another GREAT challenge for us . . . and it's so easy, peasy, lemon squeazy!!!  So get out your paper, scissors, glue  and . . .

 Are you ready???

I didn't hear you . .

Are you ready???

Okay, it's challenge time!!!

Theme:  Food for thought
Stash: Punches

You have 1 weeks to play (till March 24th at 8pm EST)
Please note that this is a new time for projects to be entered

This week our sponsor is:

For this week's challenge, I chose a super cute digi stamp called "Bashful Bunny Boo" from Lacy Sunshine . . . she is one of LS's new releases.  I just fell in love with her and her cute little face . . . and thought she would be PERFECT with a sentiment "Some Bunny is Thinking of You" and a GREAT image for Easter with her little basket of Easter Eggs.  Here's how my card turned out:

I used "Ooh La La" 6x6 paper pad by MME along with some miscellaneous buttons and a small rectangle punch.  I also used my Copics to color my image . . . if you want to know what colors I used, say so in the comments sections and I will list them. :)

I am sending this card (well either this one or the other bunny card I made last week) with my hubby to give to our niece who is having surgery today to let her know that even though I'm not there, I am still thinking and praying for her.  (Our whole family will be there . . . but I didn't get my flu shot and I am very susceptible to getting pneumonia if I get the flu, so I am staying home.) So we will see if my hubby will remember to take it with him . . . he's a GREAT husband, but sometimes he doesn't listen (or remember). lol

Remember, you have one week to get your project entered . . . and that the new time is 8pm EST.

Till the next time I'm up in the night.  Kathy

HIMCR #141

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Can you believe the weather we have been having this past week?  Instead of the bitter cold we had been having around here, it actually got up to low 60s one day and mid-40s to low 50s for the rest of the week.  Yay!!!  Maybe winter is FINALLY on its way out.  It seems like this year has just been so cold and snowy . . . much more bitterly cold than I remember from past years.

Anyway, here it is Saturday once again . . . and you know what that means?  That's right!  It is time for a new challenge at Hiding In My Craft Room . . . and this week since it is the 3rd Saturday of the month, it is a "Color It" challenge.  This week's sponsor is The Paper Shelter and the giveaway is a $20 gift certificate to The Paper Shelter . . . how FUN is that?!?!

The Paper Shelter gave us a couple images to choose from along with a matching digi paper for each image.  So I chose "Not Big Enough" for the image I would color . . . and I fussy cut some of the images from the digi paper to use as extra elements on my card.  As for the paper, it is from the Seasons-Spring paper collection from Authentique and I used Lagoon ink from Close To My Heart for the sentiment . . . oh, the sentiment is from "Sentiments" by Paper Smooches.  And I distress the card with Walnut Stain Distress Ink by Tim Holtz.

After looking at this card again, I am ready for my own ice cream . . . hopefully, my daughter hasn't eaten all of it yet. :)

Till the next time I'm up in the night.  Kathy

Some Bunny is Thinking of You . . .

Does anyone know what time it is?

That's right . . .

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!  Today my post is not only about challenge time over at Clear It Out Challenge . . . but I am also posting my first project as a DT member for The Paper Temptress.  Yes, you read right . . . Patricia from TPT contacted me a few weeks ago asking if I would like to be on her DT and I, of course, said "Yes!" because she has the most amazing papers.

So now it's time to clear away your crafty space and get your crafty on.  And usual, our fearless leader, Laura,  has come up with another AMAZING challenge for us . . . and it's so easy, peasy!!!  So get out your paper, scissors, glue  and . . .

 Are you ready???

I didn't hear you . . .

Are you ready???

Okay, it's challenge time!!!

Theme:  Something for Kids
Stash: Bright paper

You have 1 weeks to play (till March 17th)

This week our sponsor is:

For this week's challenge, I choose an adorable digi image called "Little Bunny's Easter Eggs" from StampArt by Kathryne.  It just reminded me so much of being a kid.  And I did something a little different with my image by fussy-cutting the bunny and eggs and layering them.  Here's how it turned out:

Papers used from The Paper Temptress:

Other paper/supplies:
pink floral by MME
bright pink washi tape from MME
Sentiment from Unity
misc. ribbon
Helmar Scrap Dots 3D Adhesive

I used the Crygen White (Iridescent White) paper to print my image on . . . it has just a slight shimmer to it.  I printed 4 images to color so I could fussy cut the bunny and three (3) of the eggs and layer them to give it more dimension.  The creme paper at the top is White Crepe (Ruche) paper from TPT.  It is the most amazing paper . . . such GREAT texture, kinda like crepe paper but more stable/heavy. The only paper not from The Paper Temptress is the light pink floral paper which is from MME.

Here's a close-up of the White Crepe (Ruche) paper so you can see the texture and another to show more detail on the layering of my bunny and eggs:

For the first time fussy-cutting and layering a digi image, I am really happy with the way it turned out. :)

Till the next time I'm up in the night.  Kathy

HIMCR - #140 Super Scraps Saturday

Hi, all my crafty friends and family?

It's the 2nd Saturday of the month and do you know what that means?

It means not only is it time for another challenge over at Hiding In My Craft Room, but it also means that it is time for Super Scraps Saturday.  That's right!  This week your challenge is to use your scraps . . . and we all know we have scraps lying around.  So get out your scissors, glue . . . and scraps and let's get crafty!

This week our sponsor is ScrapbookPal.com and the giveaway is a $25 gift certificate to their online store.

For my project this week, I used scraps I had left from another project . . . including the image. Actually, I had the image printed, not colored yet . . . but I thought it would work, too.  I don't see the purpose of throwing away extra images . . . I usually print two (2) or three (3) so I can decide if certain color combinations will work together for a certain image.  Here's my project this week:

As I said, I used leftover scraps . . . they were scraps from Vicky V's paper collection. And my image is from Lacy Sunshine called "Eleanor & Pickles with Smores".  I was so happy that my colors all worked together.

Remember, you have one week to get your projects in . . . I can't wait to see what you come up with using your scraps.

Till the next time I'm up in then night.  Kathy

HIMCR #139 - Spring Colors

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!

It the 1st Saturday of the month and you know what that means . . .

It means that not only is it time for another challenge over at Hiding In My Craft Room . . . but it also means it is a color challenge.  This week you are to use "Spring" colors for your projects . . . and you have till March 8th at 2am PST to get your projects in. Our sponsor this week is Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.

For my project inspiration this week, I choose to use "Peek a Boo Sophie" digi stamp by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps . . . she just reminds of of all the flowers that will be peeking thru the ground soon.  My spring colors may not be the "typical" colors . . . but to me they remind me of the sky during a Spring shower and how yellow the sun is afterwards. Here's my card:

I used "Seasons: Summer" 6x6 paper collection by Authentique for this card along with some half pearls from "Vintage Findings" by Teresa Collins.  Pretty simple?!?!

Now remember you have one week (till March 8th at 2am PST) to get your projects in.  I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Till the next time I'm up in the night.  Kathy
